Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the newest tank hero joining Overwatch 2: Maverick. This Australian hero brings unique mobility and defensive capabilities that are set to shake up the tank meta.
Hero Abilities
Maverick’s kit includes:
- Primary weapon: Kinetic Hammer with charged attacks
- Ability 1: Grapple Hook for vertical mobility
- Ability 2: Energy Shield that can be deployed on walls
- Passive: Damage reduction while airborne
- Ultimate: Seismic Slam creating area denial
Hero Background
Maverick is a former construction worker from Sydney who joined Overwatch after using his equipment to save civilians during the Omnic Crisis. His engineering background gives him unique insights into battlefield construction.
Competitive Impact
Early testing suggests Maverick will be a strong pick for both attack and defense, with his mobility allowing for aggressive plays and his defensive capabilities providing team protection.
The hero is currently on the PTR and expected to release in January 2025.
